TIPS, TRICKS & RESOURCES TO CREATE A SEAMLESS WEDDING DAY
Chances are if you’re reading this, you’ve booked me as your elopement photographer. Elopements are so special, so intimate and it’s an immense honour to be your photographer for your day! I’m truly honoured and I can’t wait to spend the coming months getting excited and hearing the details as your day comes together. I take pride in “choosing” my clients as much as they “choose” me — in my eyes, this relationship is a two-way street and that mutual understanding of one another is what will help create amazing photos.
This is not “a rule book” but a resource that will help prompt thinking outside the box, outside Pinterest and trendy stuff. This guide will help you create a day that reflect YOU. It will also help you feel more prepared and serve as a guide as you start to think about your day. Everything in here is strictly from *my experience* and if you
have ideas outside of this, please let me know. I’m always all ears. This is all about YOU and your dream day!
I encourage you to use the given pages in the back of the guide to help create your dream day!
I am so excited to be on this journey with you and genuinly want to be helpful to you in the planning process and beyound. I want to reasure you that I am here for YOU. Let’s document your love story, together!
An engagement session is SUCH a great opportunity to get to know each other better and help you get more comfortable in front of the camera.
Maybe you want to have photos taken in a location that’s totally opposite of your wedding day or a location that we couldn’t make it to. If you’re taking a helicopter to a mountain top on your wedding day maybe you want to have engagement photos take while you’re canoeing on a turquoise lake. If we’re going to Bow Lake and Peyto Lake for your elopement maybe you want to have engagement photos taken at Moraine Lake.
This page is all about helping you start the thought process of creating a day centred around your dreams.
Use your relationship and likes/ dislikes to create a day centered around YOU.
The first step is to start brainstorming. Plan a special date night. i’ve created a list of questions to ask each other to get you started.

Is this a destination location? Are you spending multiple days around your wedding day or just a day trip to the mountains?
Who is there with you? Friends, family members, fur babies?
Ideal ceremony? Is there an officiant, or a family member or friend officiating? Are you reading your own vows or repeating after the officiant? Is it traditional, non traditional?
Will there be dancing, food, toasts?

think about who is present on your ideal day.
Elopements are hard for so many people because they don’t know whether to invite family and friends or NOT. They feel so much pressure to invite people, and when they do, sometimes the guest list gets a little crazy. I encourage you to think about it both ways. Maybe it’s best for you to elope JUST THE TWO OF YOU, but I also want to show you the side of how it could look to elope with your friends and family and why that can be so powerful and special too.
The next few pages will suggest ways you can include your friends and family on your actual elopement day or leading up to it.
THE CEREMONY
Let them be present for the ceremony in persona or virtually through a live stream.
OTHER WAYS TO INCLUDE FAMILY
Invite a few of your favourite people to a meal after your ceremony and elopement activities. This could be at a restruant or careeredat an air bnb.
Here are some ideas to include family/ friends without them being physically present:
Invite them to dress shopping
Host an engagement party and invite them
Encourage them to gift you heirlooms to use throughout your wedding day
Facetime/Zoom on the day of
Hire a videographer to capture the elopement so family can watch the video later
Have family write letters you can read on the wedding day (you can even have them email or mail them to me so it’s a complete surprise for you on your day)
Open gifts from family on elopement day
Have a reception on an other day for family and friends
Share your photo gallery with your family and friends
Gift them prints or an album
TIME TO PICK THE PERFECT SPOT.
What type of location are you dreaming of? Forest, mountain top, lake side, or a combination of them all? What kind of weather do you want to deal with? Think about accessibility and for yourselves and guests. Consider the times of year when there will the most tourists and if you want a spot that’s more private. Is there a location or locations that are meaningful to you or do you want a location that is a completely new experience? Do you need a permit? We can go to multiple locations through out the day! Getting ready at your Air Bnb, ceremony on a mountain top, portraits at an alpine lake, dinner back at your Air Bnb or a restaurant
