14 Ideas for a Winter Engagement Session in Ottawa
Happy snow day!! Ottawa’s lockdown is officially over as of today! We are now operating in zones and we are in the orange zone. That means that I’m able to take photos again!! During the lockdown photographers were only allowed to do commercial shoots. SO in honour of the lockdown being over I am making a list of a bunch of fun ideas for a winter engagement session! I may have gone a little over board but I am suuuuuuper excited!!! I am not a fan of the cold but I LOVE snow!! These could also be used for a couples session or an anniversary session as well!
I’ve created an outfit guide for all of my couples and I have some great suggestions on how to dress appropriately for the weather and location we’re shooting at and also how to stay warm for winter sessions! Hint it involves hand and feet warmers, and a warm blanket!
Skating Landsdowne, Meeche Lake or River Oak
Visiting the Christmas tree at Landsdown
Go for a walk in Le Rose Forest (there is a giant log pile that would be really cool as a background for photos)
Find a hill and go tobogganing
Building a snowman together
Make snow angels
Have a snow ball fight
Go snow shoeing
Go cross country or downhill skiing/ snowboarding
Walk through the Byward Market courtyard (they usually have twinkle lights set up and it’s magical with the snow)
Make a hot chocolate and s’moores around a campfire
Stay at an a frame Air bnb
Slow dance by the fire (indoor or outdoor)
Read to each other by the fire
I wish that I had more current photos to share with you but since the lockdown has been in place for the majority of the time we have had snow in Ottawa these will have to do for now! If you’re interested in booking a winter session with me please reach out ASAP as I have limited spots available.
