Romantic Ottawa Cathedral Wedding

I got to second shoot Ashley + Kyle’s wedding for Laura Fenny Photography this past summer. Part of my job for the day was to take photos of the guys getting ready before the ceremony and of them opening their gifts as thanks from Kyle for being part of the bridal party. The gifts clearly had a lot of thought behind them. A watch was engraved for the father of the groom. And a journal was personalized for the bride's brother with the sweetest little details. Also a dance party may have broken out after all the gifts were opened.

Ashley + Kyle got married at the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica downtown Ottawa. It’s one of the most majestic and awe inspiring old churches I’ve ever been to. When you look up at it’s high ceilings they’re painted with stars that looks like the night sky. The front of the church has ornate gold details. There are stained glass windows, rows and rows of wooden pews and tall silver steeples.

After these two said I do we drove off to a really pretty garden in Rockliff Park. The light was pure gold magic. Golden hour was the dreamiest I've ever seen it in Ottawa. We wanted to keep the shutter clicking for as long as possible. We could have stayed there alll day.

The was a red BMW get a way car. Ashley's bouquet had little photos of her grandparents on then so she could hold them close. The reception hall was decorated SO BEAUTIFULLY by Partner Weddings & Events (who by the way is super cool and if you need something planned you should get her involved because she comes THROUGH!). The speeches were heartfelt. The dessert tasty, not to mention the donut platters and wedding cake. And the dance floor was filled. They know how to party!

PS. This is 100% a summer wedding but the reds & greens are giving me all the Christmas warm fuzzes ... maybe it’s just because there’s 15 days until Christmas and I’m all hyped up on cheesy Christmas movies and Christmas spirit.
